Autism and Special Needs
Motiva Associates provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs and services for children with Autism and other developmental disabilities.
Motiva Associates’ top priorities are to benefit each child and help them achieve their potential in all areas of their lives. Another of our priorities is to raise awareness in families and communities about people with disabilities as well as the resources and services available to them. These services can be paid by the San Diego Regional Center, health insurance or directly by the client.
Our in-home, early intervention program teaches children pre-academic, behavioral, social, and school readiness skills. At the beginning of the program we provide a comprehensive evaluation in order to develop goals and objectives for each child’s individual program.
Our in-home, intensive Infant Education Program shows children ages 1-3 preschool, social behavior, and school readiness skills. Upon entering the program, we provide a comprehensive assessment in order to develop goals and objectives for each child’s individualized program. This program is focused on decreasing challenging behaviors while promoting functional communication, social and play skills, adaptative and self-help skills.
The program has a naturalistic approach designed to train parents or guardians of children usually between 12 and 24 months of age. The evidence-based approach teaches parents developmental strategies to increase children’s social communication and play skills during their daily routine. Services are provided at home or in the office and sessions are provided twice a week, for a total of 12 weeks.
This is an intensive program that is provided at home, where the attention is focused on goals in the following areas:
- Challenging Behaviors
- Functional Communication
- Play and Social Skills
- Self-help Skills
- Safety Skills
ABA methodology is used to teach the child and train parents with strategies to achieve the goals of the program.
This service is offered to eligible individuals of any age with problems with challenging behaviors. The Focused Behavior program provides services in the same areas as the intensive services mentioned above (e.g., challenging behaviors, functional communication). The services aim to reach intervention goals and include parents or guardians in the training, modeling skills and working one-on-one with the client.
This service is offered to people of any age with challenging behaviors. BMS services are provided in the home. In addition, Motiva begins with an assessment of the challenging behavior, followed by the development of a behavior intervention plan for parents/family to implement, training in behavior modification techniques and teaching school skills, communication and self-help skills that also increase the caregiver’s ability to manage future challenging behaviors that may arise.
Motiva provides oversight and consultation for ABA and structured instruction programs delivered in school districts. Our staff trains and supervises school district staff and evaluates programs for children who need these services. Teacher training and practices include Basic Behavioral Principles, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and teaching techniques for children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
